New Hampshire has one of the most stunning displays of autumn in the United States. In few other places will you find such an explosion of red, yellow and orange hues. Landscaping companies throughout the state work hard to maintain this beautiful display not only in the fall but year-round.
One such company is Merrimack, N.H.-based B.H. Labrie Landscaping. Founded in 1992 by Brian Labrie, the company is a full-service landscaping company serving south-central New Hampshire. They complete landscape and hardscape design, landscape installation, irrigation management, landscape maintenance, storm preparedness and exterior landscape maintenance.
One of the busiest times of year for Labrie is fall or irrigation blowout season. In colder climates such as those found in New Hampshire, sprinkler systems need to be winterized – or blown out – each fall to avoid frozen and burst irrigation pipes. Landscaping companies typically use a portable air compressor – anywhere from the small 185 cfm to the large 1600 cfm compressor depending on the size and type of property – to clear water from the irrigation system. In the height of fall, B.H. Labrie Landscaping can have up to 80 properties on its schedule to winterize per day.
We have a very short window to get a lot of jobs done, said Labrie. We have a lot of irrigation systems to blow out in the fall. We’ve previously been in situations where we’ve gone with less reliable portable compressor manufacturers, and the compressor has broken down. It then throws off our entire schedule and we end up with frustrated customers. It’s not good for any of us. Since then, we’ve grown up and graduated to the point of our company being centered on reliability and dependability, and Sullair fits the bill.
Outside of fall, B.H. Labrie Landscaping keeps its Sullair compressor busy with other applications, including using it for tunneling under sidewalks and operating pneumatic tools such as jackhammers for hardscapes.
Now having more than 20 years in the landscaping business, Labrie has learned a few things along the way.
When I first started the business, we rented all kinds of compressors but the ones we fell in love with were the Sullair compressors because of their dependability and reliability. As the company grew and evolved, we then started buying exclusively Sullair portable compressors.
Twenty years later, he has no regrets.
Our main go-to for the irrigation division is the Sullair 185 Series. It’s portable, fast and easy to move from job site to job site. It gets the job done without any issues. It truly is the silver bullet for what we do in irrigation.
