Maybe you’ve seen some eye-catching ads or social media posts and your curiosity is piqued. What do they [Sullair] mean they’ve turned the portable compressor world upside down?!
We’re here to explain.
The Sullair Mid-Range Series of Tier 4 Final portable lubricated rotary screw air compressors offers two models: the 800HH/900H delivering 800–900 cfm at 150–200 psi, and the 920H/1100 model delivering 920–1100 cfm at 100–150 psi.
The Mid-Range is the first of Sullair portable air compressors to incorporate Electronic Spiral Valve technology and the first portable product to offer the proven Sullair 23-Series variable capacity air end. While it’s the first portable compressor to feature Electronic Spiral Valve technology, Sullair leaned on its significant expertise in spiral valve technology, including 30 years in the demanding industrial market.
The Mid-Range Series was launched in the US and Canada markets in mid-February 2021.
The Mid-Range Series is the first of Sullair portable air compressors to feature electronic spiral valve technology. The technology is a gamechanger. It helps maximize fuel efficiency and extend runtimes by matching compressor displacement to demand without reducing inlet pressure. This means an operator can quickly and easily input the exact pressure they want on the Sullair Touch Screen Controller—anywhere between 80 and 200 psi—and the machine calibrates to give maximum flow at that pressure. This means you can have nearly infinite combination of pressure and flow options to meet the needs of various applications.
Remember the days when you needed to buy three separate portable air compressors to cover three different applications? Perhaps one compressor was needed to use pneumatic tools; another compressor was needed for abrasive blasting applications; and yet another was needed for pipe testing. Those days are over.
Today’s portable air compressors are designed to cover a range of applications with a single unit—and the Sullair Mid-Range Series is the crème de la crème. The Mid-Range Series covers the jobs of up to nine compressors. From pipeline work and abrasive blasting, to construction and shipyards, to fiber optics and more, the Mid-Range Series can handle them all.
What does this mean for contractors or rental houses? In a time where cost of ownership remains a key factor—perhaps now more so than ever—the flexibility helps drive improved ROI and increased utilization rates for rental companies, and a more consolidated fleet for contractors. Now, you can cover more jobs using fewer assets.
We understand different regions and different customers across North America have a preferred engine manufacturer. A range of engine options is then needed to ensure there is always strong local support and to better meet our customers’ needs. This is one of the reasons Sullair continues to expand its engine options across its product portfolio, and the Mid-Range Series is no exception.
The Mid-Range Series is available with two Tier 4 Final engine options: a Caterpillar 7.1 diesel or a Perkins 1206J diesel, packing high-density power into a smaller package. A small package size and advanced fuel system help improve fuel efficiency—in fact, the Mid-Range Series delivers best-in-class* fuel efficiency.
Time is money, meaning easy accessibility and serviceability is a non-negotiable for customers. Therefore, it’s top-of-mind when Sullair designs portable air compressors, and the Mid-Range Series is no exception. With access (service doors) on three sides of the compressor, technicians can get their arms in the machine quickly and easily to access every component, such as filters, lubricants, etc. With robust push-to-close latches, it helps promote safety for operators and helps avoid unexpected or unintentional door closures or pinches.
The 7-inch, full color Sullair Touch Screen Controller is intuitive and provides in-depth compressor and engine performance information at your fingertips—even while wearing gloves. You can easily set pressure and flow and control the Electronic Spiral Valve technology.
All this power is packaged into a compact, highway towable, single-axle unit so you can pull it behind a truck. Easy towing and maneuverability from jobsite to jobsite was key in the compressor’s design.
