The COVID-19 pandemic has turned our lives upside down. As the world battles the pandemic, we’ve seen shortages of critical protective gear for our health care workers on the front lines.
Sullair purchased nearly 1,300 N95 respirators for its China-based facilities in early 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic. However, Sullair was unable to send these respirators to China due to shipping concerns during the height of the outbreak in China. In hindsight, this was a blessing in disguise for Michigan City, Indiana. In late March, Sullair donated these respirators to Franciscan Health Michigan City, a Michigan City-based hospital a short distance from the Sullair campus.
Debbie Tatum, Director of Development at Franciscan Health, remarked “It has been mission-critical to make sure our health care workers are protected and safe, so they can be ready to meet the impending needs of all patients in these unprecedented times. Thank you to your entire organization for this generous donation to Franciscan Health Michigan City.”
As the third largest employer in Michigan City, Sullair is pleased to make this donation to support the health of those working on the front lines, as well as the health of what could be our friends, families or even employees.
Founded in Michigan City, Indiana, nearly 55 years ago, Sullair is a committed partner to the community in which many of our employees live and work. Sullair maintains Chicago and Michigan City-based Community Action Committees who regularly meet to develop opportunities for our organization and employees to volunteer, donate, give back and otherwise connect with colleagues to help enhance our communities.
