Sullair and its Community Involvement Committee announced its employees raised $5,593 for the Marine Corp Toys for Tots program. Following the fundraiser, Sullair announced the company will match the Toys for Tots employee donations dollar-for-dollar and donate an additional $5,593 to Family Advocates, a La Porte-based nonprofit organization.
“Sullair is proud to give back to our local communities,” said Jessica Bailey, Director of Human Resources for Sullair and member of the Community Involvement Committee. “For the past several holiday seasons, Sullair and its Community Involvement Committee have organized a fundraiser for Toys for Tots. Through the generous support of our employees, hundreds of local children will have a brighter holiday season.”
“A friendly competition developed between two internal departments to see who could raise the most money for Toys for Tots,” said Jimmy Combs, Machine Shop Team Lead at Sullair and an organizer of the competition. “The Sullair Machine Shop challenged the Customer Service Team, with the teams far surpassing their goal. The participation and generosity during this holiday season was simply incredible.”
In recognition of Sullair support of Toys for Tots, charity representatives presented a plaque to Charlie Takeuchi, Sullair COO and Executive Vice President, at a small ceremony on December 14.
Toys for Tots is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted, while Family Advocates is committed to providing objective advocacy focused on the best interest of children and fostering, positive family relationships.
The Sullair Community Involvement Committee meets regularly throughout the year to develop opportunities for the organization and employees to volunteer, donate, give back and otherwise connect with colleagues to help enhance the local communities. In 2018, Sullair has made gifts in kind to 17 local and national nonprofit organizations or individuals in need.
