Compressed Air Vibration Monitoring Best Practices

By Tony King - Released on July 27, 2023
When used regularly, vibration monitoring can help predict maintenance issues in compressed air systems.

Vibration analysis is a powerful tool for predictive maintenance when deployed regularly (and early in the compressor's life cycle). Every component from the ball bearings to the gears and rotors has its own frequency that is detectable when monitored properly. By reviewing the frequency readings and studying the peaks and valleys on the vibration analysis graph, analysts can pinpoint an issue before it impacts the compressed air system helping to prevent downtime - and headaches.

Read more in Plant Engineering magazine about vibration analysis - how and how often it should be done, what it can detect and more in the article below from Hitachi Global Air Power C&I Technical Service Supervisor, Tony King.
