This week we are celebrating National Women’s Equality Day — August 26. This day marks the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920 when women were finally given the right to vote. As part of this celebration, Sullair is proud to highlight a few of our company’s talented women team members showcasing their diverse backgrounds, talents and expertise. We will be featuring a new Sullair star every day this week.

What is your favorite part of your job?
My job is very fast paced with lots of new challenges. I have an amazing team and I love watching them succeed in helping our customers, particularly in engineered orders. Seeing them succeed makes me feel like I succeeded too.
What characteristics does someone need to be successful in a role like yours?
Be a leader. Being a good decision-maker and taking responsibility are important. This job cannot be done alone, you need to be able to delegate and have great communication skills. As a manager, I also think it is important to understand the different needs of your team. Everyone works differently and being willing to approach people according to their needs helps to bring out the best in your team.
Who most influenced you growing up?
My dad was my biggest influencer. He inspired me with his work ethic and how he cared for others. He was always striving to do the best job possible.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to binge watch my favorite shows. I am also a big reader and love to travel.
What advice do you have for women starting out in their career?
Find other women to connect with in your workplace. Having a support system and sounding board is a great way to collaborate and problem-solve. And learn to accept criticism. Leave the emotions out and use the feedback to become a better professional.
I would also say, never stop learning. Always volunteer for challenges or tasks that may seem boring or even out of reach. Taking on new projects and opportunities is how you learn and grow your career.
